The Jackson JS2 is an entry level model. That doesn’t mean that it’s a bad bass. I got this bass after going to Guitar Centers in multiple states, I found I really liked how this bass played and sounded. The other bass I really liked was the Ibanez talman 100, another entry level bass. I got this one though because I liked it better, and at the time it was cheaper. Got it December of 2019, so I’ve had it since I started doing videos with tabs. In fact, I had it in a couple before that, but those aren’t public anymore. One other reason I got the bass was because of David Ellefson from Megadeth. I didn’t have enough money to purchase his signature bass, so I got this as the next best thing.
Originally, I didn’t keep this bass in a set tuning, but I now refer to this as my KISS bass. Gene Simmons used a Jackson bass for about a year in the non-makeup years of the band. I’ve got the KISS Strap on it and typically keep it in Eb standard tuning. I’ve used this bass on a good majority of my KISS bass covers.
The low end is really great on this bass. It fits a lot of the KISS songs and other hard rock, heavy metal, and glam songs.
A lot of people don’t like the pointy head stock though. It’s seen as a clear sign that you like or play metal, which a lot of people don’t like.
